31 Places You Must Stay in Valle de Guadalupe | Ensenada B.C

31 Places You Must Stay in Valle de Guadalupe | Ensenada B.C

When it comes to where to stay in Valle De Guadalupe, your options are endless! One of the things that Mexico Wine Country is known for are its beautiful properties and architecture. If you've been down to the Valle De Guadalupe area before, you know how confusing everything can be and how large it is. Lucky for you, I've been down there on many occasions and have stayed at different hotels each time. In this post, I've made a list of 31 places to stay in Valle at all price points. The list of the first 16 places to stay, are the spots I've stayed at or have visited prior.

I know that there's so many options, but one recommendation I have if your trying to save money, is to stay during the week and during off season. But one awesome things about Baja, is that there's accommodations prices for every budget! I've included some places on the coast of Ensenada for those who prefer the resort type of accommodation away from Valle. I have also included another list at the end of other  places to stay that I have never visited, but have heard great things, so it may be worth checking out.

****** Please note: Valle de Guadalupe is a "fairly" new area and a lot of properties may have water plumbing issues, especially newer properties. This is not a huge issue, but it does happen once in a while. Don't be surprised.

1. El Cielo Winery and Resort

I had the pleasure of staying at the beautiful El Cielo Winery Resort this past June. El Cielo Winery Resort is a luxury boutique property with villas surrounding two lake reservoirs.  El Cielo Winery Resort has a security guard 24 hours a day and the property is located in the El Porvenir area. The resort opened four months ago with their first phase of villas and one swimming pool. They have plans to open approximately 20 more villas by the end of summer and a restaurant on property. These Villas are large with either a balcony or patio facing the lake. The villas are unique because they're designed like house, but with three separate apartments inside. The Villas have one large apartment with a kitchen, living room and separate bedroom. The upstairs are two apartments, one with a king bed and the other apartment with two queen beds. The villas are equipped with Nespresso machines, L'Occitane bathroom products, a flat iron, hair dryer, plenty of waters and much more. The villas have air conditioning and a ceiling fan. Did I mention how comfortable the bed is? This is a pet friendly hotel, so make sure you bring your furry friends! El Cielo Winery Resort is on the El Cielo Winery property. El Cielo Winery Resort is located close to other wineries like Finca La Carrodilla, Montefiori, Hilo Negro, Vena Cava, La Lomita and many more. The staff here at El Cielo Winery was incredible and the best. I seriously can't wait to retun bacl to this place! It has become one of my favorites.

2. Casa Frida Valle De Guadalupe

IMG_9645.JPG

Casa Frida is a winery, restaurant and also rental property that is located in Valle de Guadalupe in between the San Antonio de las Minas and El Porvenir area. Casa Frida was designed by a well known architect, Alejandro D’Acosta and the beautiful Frida Kahlo Art by Raul Carrilo. The winery opened last summer July of 2017, with a current expansion project for the larger tasting area. This is scheduled to be opened later this summer in August. The home is very clean, bright and comfortable, with reliable Wifi. The home also has private parking and air conditioning. The home was designed similar to the Frida Kahlo’s original “Blue House” in Mexico City. The colorful tasting room and rental home shows true to its Mexican vibrant colors with delicate Frida Kahlo touches throughout the home. The home was decorated with large Frida Kahlo paintings placed in every bedroom and furniture that appeared to be a similar replica of Frida Kahlo’s original home in Mexico. The kitchen table is a beautiful natural wood with bright yellow chairs that match the colorful table setting. The three bedroom home is perfect for six people or three, as it's very bright, spacious and private. Staying at the Casa Frida home made me feel like I was staying at Frida’s personal home and living in her era. The details throughout the winery and the rental home is what makes this place so unique. Staying at the Casa Frida home made me feel like I was staying at Frida’s personal home and living in her era. Click here to read more on Casa Frida and to see more pictures of this rental. Wineries close to Casa Frida are Alximia, Relieve, Rondo, La Lomita and many more.

3. Encinal at Grupo Maglen

DSC_0089.JPG

Hotel Encinal is one of three properties that are part of the Maglen Resort Group. These properties are also located in the San Antonio De La Minas area. All three of these properties are located next to each other with sharing restaurant facilities. I didn't get to stay at Encinal, but my friends did. As you can see in the pictures below, ts a nice comfortable room with all the basic necessities you need. The hotel has a jacuzzi, pool and the Cantera Restaurant. Encinal offers two types of accommodations and is close to many wineries like Kruger, Corona Del Valle, Vinas de la Erre, Vinas de Garza, Alximia, Conchas de Piedra, Bodegas Santo Tomas and many more.

4. Las Villas at Maglen Resort

DSC_0149.JPG

Las Villas is also another property of the Maglen Resort. This hotel is the largest out of the three with villas with one and two bedrooms. Each Villa is different offering a relaxing experience with endless views. This property also has a pool and the restaurant Ha'che. Out of the three properties, the Villas are the nicest and the most luxurious with beautiful decorations. They're are large with a little extra amenities than the other properties. La Villas is close to many wineries like Kruger, Corona Del Valle, Vinas de la Erre, Vinas de Garza, Alximia, Conchas de Piedra, Bodegas Santo Tomas and many more.

5. Tesela at Grupo Maglen

IMG_3468.JPG

Tesela is part of the Grupo Maglen and it's also located on the same property as Encinal and Las Villas. This place was super awesome with some incredible sunsets and sunrises! I would say its a step up from Glamping, in that there's no televisions, coffee makers in the room. Tesela offers two styles of rooms. One room is a suite with the bed and bathroom downstairs and a sitting area on the entry floor. Click Here to see a short video. The rooms have minimal amenities, making it a more peaceful experience and staying in the moment. Each room is its own cube with a terrace and hammock. All the rooms offer floor to ceiling windows with a magnificent view of the Guadalupe Valley. All rooms face the same location for optimal privacy. The rooms are super nice with a comfortable bed and different size pillows. The shower was made of bamboo flooring and talavera tile covered the walls. This is a relatively new hotel and the pool is almost complete. The property also offers a restaurant and event meeting area. I would say that this place is perfect for couples and not very child friendly.  Tesela is close to many wineries like Kruger, Corona Del Valle, Vinas de la Erre, Vinas de Garza, Alximia, Conchas de Piedra, Bodegas Santo Tomas and many more.

6. Agua de Vid

0936AAEE-ED5C-49C9-B56D-335278BD0256.JPG

Agua de Vid is one of the newest and coolest hotels in towns. I stayed here three weeks after they opened and let me tell you, it's super unique and eclectic! Agua de Vid is located in between the Francisco Zarco and El Porvenir area. As you walk up to Agua de Vid, you can tell the architecture is different than any other. The main part of the hotel has an indoor/ outdoor concept with a water feature surrounding it. The hotel also has a night bar on the second and third level with never ending views of Valle. Agua de Vid has a delicious kitchen, Pancracia on the main level with traditional Mexican dishes and modern cuisine. The hotel just finished their small pool that is located on the third floor that looks alike a huge spa. The feel for this hotel is industrial meets modern chic. There's a lot of recycled items that are used for decorations and furniture with beautiful tile. The bedrooms are cube like with a floor to ceiling windows and doors. The bathrooms in the bedrooms are also unique in that they're decorated with recycled pluming materials. The washing sink is made of old metal tubs and cinder blocks as part of the wall. The rooms are super cute, but they did get a little warm. The lighting fixture made the room a little hot, but I believe this issue was fixed. I had some friends stay here several weeks ago and they said that the room was not hot. Agua de Vid is close to many other wineries like Cava de Marcelo, Emeve, Adobe Guadalupe, Vina de Frannes, Legado Sais, Torres Alegre, Bodegas F. Rubio, Decantos, Baron Balche and many more.

7. Hacienda Guadalupe

IMG_9006.JPG

Hacienda Guadalupe is a beautiful boutique hotel in the Valle de Guadalupe area on the way out of San Antonio de las Minas. The hotel is private with a security guard at the gate 24 hours a day. I dind't get to stay here, but my friends did and this picture was taken when we dropped them off. They really enjoyed their stay and had nothing negative to say. My friends stated that the staff was wonerful and the daily breakfast were excellent. The hotel offers daily breakfast and incredible views of Valle. This boutique hotel is located near many wineries like Lechuza, Casa Magoni, Castillo Ferrer and the restaurant Deckman's El Mogor. Click HERE to read more on Deckman's.

8. Quinta Monasterio

IMG_7511.JPG

I had the privilege of staying at Quinta Monasterio Winery three years ago, located in the Francisco Zarco. The property rents three separate casitas on their property through Air bnb. We rented all three casitas and they were all nice and clean. The casitas were new with nice details throughout the rooms. The largest casita is made with wine barrels and corks. The rooms smells of wood with wine and its very lovely. The casitas offers daily breakfast to your room or by the winery. Quinta Monasterio also has a beautiful Spa with organic products made of wine grapes. Some wineries close by are Trevista, Decantos, Hotel Boutique Valle de Guadalupe, Vina de Frannes, Chateau Camou and many more! Click HERE to read more on Quinta Monasterio.

9. Casa 8 at Bruma

I haven't had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful property. However, I have visited the winery Bruma on three occasions and I'm in love! Bruma is located on the east part of wine country on the way towards Tecate. Bruma and Casa 8 are located close to many other wineries like Vinedos de la Reyna, L.A. Cetto, Paralelo and many more. The property has the restaurant Fauna, ran by chef David Hussongs that has become very popular in Valle. This place is a must visit and I highly reccomend to everyone!

10. Adobe Guadalupe

Adobe Guadalupe is another beautiful property that I haven't had the chance to stay at, but I have visited the winery. Their award winning wines are some of the best in Valle, with their equestrian property being one of the most relaxing in the area. I have a lot friends who have stayed here and there's nothing negative to say about this place. Wineries close to Adobe Guadalupe are Vina de Frannes, Decantos, Torres Alegre and many more.

12. Hotel Coral and Marina in Ensenada

Hotel Coral and Marina is always a nice go to hotel because it offers the comfort and amenities of a resort. In Valle, a lot of the accommodations only offer breakfast with restaurants slightly farther away and closing early. El Coral is located on the Marina in Ensenada and is only 25 minutes to Valle de Guadalupe. Its perfect for those who just want to go to wine tasting for the day, but still enjoy the ocean.

13. Private Air bnb in Ensenada

IMG_6942.JPG

I got to stay at this Air bnb, "Cielito Lindo", this past May while visiting Ensenada for the Tierra de Vino Wine Competition. This was a private residence with a guest house for rent on the bottom floor that is located in downtown Ensenada. The owners reside next door and the second floor is occupied by rentors. This guest house has gated parking, which I enjoyed and my car fit perfectly. It also has a living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. The room is spacious, very clean and comfortable. They offered coffee and two water bottles. However, mine were not replaced, so I had to go to the store to get additional waters.

14. Villa Bitterlin - Air bnb in Ensenada

IMAGE.JPG

Villa Bitterlin is a beautiful house located on, San Miguel beach in Ensenada and can be rented through Air bnb. The villa was designed by architect Jean-Loup Bitterlin in 1970 and inspired by Gaudi and James Hubble. The house sleeps six guests with three bedrooms, two and half baths, kitchen, living room, dining room and private back yard. One of the bedrooms is downstairs with a private bathroom. One of the bedrooms upstairs is slightly connected to the other and is not as private. The main bedroom offers a circle bed with a private bathroom. This house is so darling and comfortable and it was featured on LA Times. The entire home has so much detail and is designed with mosaic tile and colorful broken tile.  The ocean front home is not cheap to rent, but totally worth it.

15. Posada Del Rey in Downtown Ensenada

Posada del Sol | Ensenada

Posada El Rey Sol is a boutique hotel located in downtown Ensenada, near many popular bars and restaurants. The hotel has a pool and jacuzzi and is very traditional with typical Mexican decorations. It recently went through some renovations and updates throughout the entire hotel. The bed was comfortable and the rooms were clean. The only complaint I had about this place was that it was close to other bars and you could hear some partying going on at night. Otherwise, we had a very comfortable stay. One of the best parts about this hotel is its restaurant, El Rey Sol, the first French Restaurant in Mexico. An America style breakfeast is included with your stay.

16. Marea Vista in Ensenada

Marea Vista | Ensenada

Marea Vista is a new hotel in Ensenada that sits rights across the street from the beach. This hotel is located a little more south of downtown Ensenada, but still relatively close to downtown and Valle de Guadalupe. This hotel offers two restaurants with a nice wine list, a pool and modern rooms. The rooms are all very large and comfortable, but a little pricey. however, the food here was so delicious that it may be worth just coming in for the food. Some of the rooms offer ocean front suites with kitchen and living rooms.
