Casa Frida Valle de Guadalupe | Rental Home and Winery
If your a Frida Kahlo fan, then make sure you visit the Casa Frida Winery and rental property, one of the newest spots in Valle de Guadalupe. I’m not sure if you noticed, but I’m a huge Frida Kahlo and today, July 6, is her birthday. In her honor, I’m writing about my recent visit to the Beautiful Casa Frida Winery in Valle De Guadalupe in Ensenada, Mexico. Several months ago, three of us girls decided to go down to Valle de Guadalupe and knew we wanted a new and hip place to stay. We booked our place HERE and it was done! Click HERE for $40 credit to this rental. We decided with Casa Frida because of its location and the size of the house. It was three of us, so we went with the three bedroom house at the rental price of $360. Please note, this post is not sponsored by anyone. Well, we got free wine tasting during our stay so thats the only disclaimer I have.
Casa Frida is a winery, restaurant and also rental property that is located in Valle de Guadalupe in between the San Antonio de las Minas and El Porvenir area. Casa Frida was designed by a well known architect, Alejandro D’Acosta and the beautiful Frida Kahlo Art by Raul Carrilo. The property is conveniently located close to several other wineries and restaurants like Alximia, Deckmans at El Mogor and Malva. You can click HERE to read my last blog post on Alximia and Deckmans El Mogor.
Casa Frida is a beautiful property where you have to see it in person to appreciate it. The entire property is covered with details of the 1920's era featuring Frida Kahlo inspired furniture. From the tile floors to the Frida Kahlo painted wine barrels, there isn't a spot they missed! The winery opened last summer July of 2017, with a current expansion project for the larger tasting area. This is scheduled to be opened later this summer in August. The home is very clean, bright and comfortable, with reliable Wifi. The home also has private parking and air condirioning.
The home was designed similar to the Frida Kahlo’s original “Blue House” in Mexico City. The colorful tasting room and rental home shows true to its Mexican vibrant colors with delicate Frida Kahlo touches throughout the home. Upon entering the home, traditional Mexican music blasted throughout the home’s surround sound with striking bright colors jumping out from every corner and piece of furniture. The home was decorated with large Frida Kahlo paintings placed in every bedroom and furniture that appeared to be a similar replica of Frida Kahlo’s original home in Mexico. The kitchen table is a beautiful natural wood with bright yellow chairs that matched the colorful table setting. The talavera tile floors were the perfect addition to the home with black and white Mexican artisan design. Every detail and piece of furniture has a Frida touch with the living room perfect for late night wine drinking with a piano at the center of the home. The three bedroom home is perfect for six people or three, as it's very bright, spacious and private.
The master bedroom has its own bathroom with a beautiful view of the yard. The bedroom also has a large mirror over the bed, just like Frida used to paint herself when she was bed ridden. The bedroom also has a large mirror over the bed, just like Frida used to paint herself when she was bed ridden. The two other bedrooms have great views of the yard and are a good size.
The home also offers a separate casita on the side of the three bedroom rental. The casita is a smaller rental with one bedroom, bathroom with two queen size beds decorated the same as the larger rental home. The Diego Guest suite can also be rented HERE. Its a cute little room with two queen sized beds, a private bathroom, a small kitchen table and mini fridge. The decorations are also on point with Frida Kahlo and its super affordable.
One of the coolest things about this winery is the current tasting room is 60 years old and it was the first chapel of Valle de Guadalupe. Due to its size, the winery is expanding with a larger tasting room in the construction process. The new tasting room is scheduled to be opening by the end of summer. The winery offers several wines with beautifully designed Frida Kahlo inspired wine labels. Each label has a story and a Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera paintings. Casa Frida also offers a restaurant with delicious Baja med dishes, open air seating and private events.I honestly can’t say enough about this property and I can’t wait to return and see the expansion of the winery. Casa Frida Winery is a new winery so their wines aren’t the best in Valle de Guadalupe, but I can say that they are good and worth a try. My favorite was the “Diego” bottle, which is a red blend of Nebbiolo, Cab Franc and Carignan.
The details throughout the winery and the rental home is what makes this place so unique. Staying at the Casa Frida home made me feel like I was staying at Frida’s personal home and living in her era.
